ORIENTATION / INDUCTION
INTRODUCTION
Underpinning an induction / orientation process is the Uniting Church in Australia, Qld Synod’s commitment to the development of its members (including employees and volunteers) and one of its core values, hospitality.
By encouraging the physical, emotional and spiritual development and well being of its ministers, members, adherents, employees and volunteers, the Church is creating and nurturing the human potential for the achievement of the mission of the Church. An effective induction / orientation ensures that all newly appointed employees and volunteers receive the appropriate support and training to assist them to perform to the desired standard for the duties of their position.
One of the core values of the Uniting Church in Australia, Qld Synod is hospitality. Hospitality involves a willingness to welcome new people to the church with openness and acceptance. Pervasive throughout the Church, hospitality extends to how new employees and volunteers are welcomed to the Church and their workplace. An effective induction program will reflect this by having an equal emphasis on work performance but also the development of positive relationships between the new employee or volunteer and his / her fellow employees / volunteers and others with whom they have contact with.
